Yesterday I had the luxury of watching the Joaquin Phoenix interview on the David Letterman show. Apparently this particular interview, which even Ill admit was spooky yet comical, sparked a lot of controversy. People leaving reviews and comments all over the web regarding this interview and what to make of it. People not knowing what to make of it, people  ’thinking’ they know what to make of it, then people commenting on other peoples comments thinking they know what to make of it better than the original commentators, leaving comments about the comments, then a third party leaving comments about the comments of the original comments. Thus, creating a huge chain of conflict and discussion, all over one 10 minute and 27 second interview (if you want to call it an interview. Anyone who saw this interview quickly notices that Mr. Phoenix has grown a rather crazy long brown beard. Keep in mind that a beard of this nature takes an extremely long time to grow, while at the same time having to deal with constant facial itching and the constant criticism’s of the public, friends, and family. Let alone being on national television on the David Letterman show, with millions of people watching. What a beard of this nature says, and always has said to me, is : ” I don’t give a shit about anything anymore.” This is what this image projects.  Keep in mind that this man spent a majority of his celebrity-hood conforming to the standards of regular grooming and projecting a clean cut image. This is why I don’t fuck with people with beards, because they don’t give a shit about anything anymore. They are more threatening to me than a clean cut guy walking around with an axe.
